Conde Nast sent correspondents to 30 countries to anonymously review the world’s most exciting new restaurants - only 95 made the cut. Our very own Brix Restaurant and Wine Bar was one of them. If you’ve been there - you’re already in the know and if you haven’t been there yet…. Brix Flagstaff, Arizona Given the organic inclinations of peaced-out, collegial Flagstaff, it’s rather puzzling that a family farm–based eatery took so long to come to town. Since the quiet opening of Brix, however, the area’s rafting guides and desert ecologists need look no further for seasonal dishes such as Black Mesa Ranch goat cheese gnocchi or grilled desert sweet shrimp with leek gratin. Nibble a delicious apple-rum spice cake in the softly lit dining room during the winter, but summer warrants a meal outside in the pleasant patio garden (entrées, $21–$29).

The owners of Flagstaff’s Karma Sushi, like all of us, have been deeply touched by Ryan Shay’s death. Demonstrating what makes Flagstaff great, they are graciously donating 50% of their Wednesday proceeds to Ryan’s widow, Alicia, to help ease her financial burden.
The event will take place this Wednesday (November 28) at Karma and we aim to spread the word. Please visit Karma for lunch or dinner on Wednesday. We have all wanted to do something to help Alicia and this is our chance.
Please pass this email along so we can fill Karma from opening till closing.
Karma is located at 6 East Route 66 (across from the train station). Lunch is served from 11-2, dinner from 5-10. – Please direct inquiries regarding this e-mail to: highaltitude@nau.edu

In an effort to maintain the safety and quality of the designated snowplay areas in and around Flagstaff, the Convention and Visitors Bureau has teamed up with members of the Winter Recreation Taskforce to develop a map of popular winter recreation locations.
The goal of the Winter Recreation Map is to educate those who may not be familiar with the area, about the designated spots for seasonal snowplay. The map will also help coordinate the high volume of visitors to Flagstaff on snowy weekends and improve the flow of traffic along the U.S. Highway 180 corridor preventing hazardous situations.
The map highlights the most common designated snowplay areas, such as Wing Mountain, Crowley Pit and Walker Lake, as well as the area’s ski destinations, including Flagstaff Nordic Center and Arizona Snowbowl.
A printable version will soon be available online at www.flagstaffarizona.org. Or pick up a copy at the Flagstaff Visitor Center, located in the historic train station, One E. Route 66, open Mon - Sat 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Sunday 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. For more information and updates on snowplay area conditions, call (928)774-9541.

Racha Thai Restaurant, one of our very favorite restaurants, is back in Flagstaff. Formerly located at the Hotel Monte Vista in downtown Flagstaff, Racha Thai has relocated to the Western Hills Motel on Route 66 at Enterprise. (1580 E. Route 66, 928-774-3003)
Very fresh, authentic Thai food served with love by the Cassidy family (Owen, the owner, will likely be your server). If you love good Thai food, you have to give this restaurant a try.
